The Goethe-Institut BiH in cooperation with the Academy for Women is organizing BOOK CLUB with one of the most respected German writers of today: Kathrin Schmidt.

BOOK CLUB is organized in order to promote readership values, the participants are students of the "Prva" gymnasium and “Druga” gymnasium Sarajevo well as participants of the German language course at the Goethe-Institut Sarajevo. Participants will read parts of Kathryn's novel “Kapoks Schwestern” and then share their impressions with the author in a conversation scheduled for 30th November 2019, with the beginning at 11:00 AM at the Goethe-Institut in Sarajevo, Bentbaša 1a.

Kathrin Schmidt was born in 1958 in Gotha, formerly East Germany. She completed her psychology degree and worked as an assistant professor at the University of Leipzig and as a child psychologist in Berlin since the mid-1980s. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, she became socially engaged, working in newspapers, and continuing to write poetry. She received her first major literary award Leonce and Lena in 1993, followed by numerous others. She writes novels and short stories. In 2009, she received the Deutscher Buchpreis Award for her novel “You Will Not Die”.
